KNOWLEDGE OF TRIMESTER III PREGNANT WOMEN ABOUT PREGNANT GYMNASTICS IN THE WORK AREA OF KAKAP RIVER HEALTH CENTER, KUBU RAYA DISTRICT

Abstract

Exercise during pregnancy is important for pregnant women during the first 22 weeks of pregnancy, as well as after that time. This exercise is important in preparing both pregnant women’s minds and bodies for childbirth as it trains muscles to function optimally during normal birth. The results of a preliminary study show that many pregnant women in the third trimester still have not participated in pregnancy exercise because their knowledge about the benefits of pregnancy exercise is still low. The objective of the present study was to investigate the knowledge on physical exercise among pregnant women in the third semester at Sungai Kakap Health Center Kubu Raya Regency. The result shows that the majority of respondents (86%) have a good understanding of the description of pregnancy exercise. 100% of respondents have a good understanding of the purposes/benefits of pregnancy exercise. 57% of respondents have a sufficient understanding of the importance of overcoming anxiety. 86% of respondents have a sufficient understanding of the best time of pregnancy exercise, and 72% of respondents have a good understanding of contraindications related to pregnancy exercise. Overall, the knowledge of physical exercise among pregnant women at the village health center (Poskesdes) of Pal IX is in the sufficient category (86%), therefore, midwives need to not only encourage but also facilitate pregnant women to do regular pregnancy exercises.
